Botticelli

Sandro Botticelli, born Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi in Florence around 1445, was one of the most influential painters of the Italian Renaissance. He trained under Fra Filippo Lippi and later worked in the studio of Andrea del Verrocchio, where he was exposed to the evolving styles and humanist ideals of the period. Botticelli quickly developed a reputation for his refined line work, graceful compositions, and a poetic sensibility distinguishing him from his contemporaries. His patrons included prominent Florentine families such as the Medici, a powerful and influential family who provided financial support and introduced him to the intellectual and artistic circles of the time, playing a vital role in advancing his career.

Botticelli is best known for his mythological masterpieces, most notably The Birth of Venus and Primavera, which were painted for the Medici family and exemplify the revival of classical themes during the Renaissance. These works, celebrated for their lyrical beauty, flowing lines, and symbolic richness, blend ancient mythology with Christian allegory and contemporary humanist thought. His figures, often characterized by elongated forms and serene expressions, convey a sense of idealized beauty that became synonymous with the Florentine school of painting.

Although Botticelli's popularity declined after his death in 1510 as High Renaissance ideals took hold, his work experienced a significant revival in the 19th century. The decline in his popularity can be attributed to the shift in artistic trends towards more naturalistic and anatomically accurate representations, which were favored during the High Renaissance. Today, he is regarded as one of the most iconic painters of the Renaissance, with his artworks housed in major museums such as the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Botticelli's legacy endures through his contribution to the development of Renaissance art and his ability to capture both the spiritual and sensual dimensions of human experience.

Orders outside the U.S. are not eligible for Free Shipping. Please choose your paid shipping method during checkout. We offer DHL, UPS, and USPS Priority Mail for international shipments.

Customs and Import Duties: If your puzzles are being delivered outside the USA, your order may be subject to import fees. These are stipulated by each individual country and are not collected or remitted by Nautilus Puzzles. Unfortunately, as we cannot advise you on the amount of these fees, we recommend contacting your country’s customs office or tax agent for the respective rates.

Returns - Peace of Mind Guaranteed: If you are less than delighted with your new puzzle, you can return it to us within 30 days of receiving your order for a full refund or store credit. We ask that it be unused and in its original condition and packaging (shrink-wrap not removed).

If you contact us in advance, we can email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print and affix to your return. To request this label, simply provide your order number and reason for return to our customer service team at help@nautiluspuzzles.com. Shipping costs will be deducted from your refund/credit, but they are charged at our volume discount shipping rates rather than the standard retail rate.

Please note we can only accept custom puzzles for return or refund if there are quality issues, as these items have been produced specifically for you.
