David Galchutt

David Galchutt is a Southern California-based artist and illustrator celebrated for his intricate, vibrant, and imaginative works that blend fantasy, folklore, and classical design elements. Born in Pasadena in 1959 to artistically inclined parents—his father a graphic designer and his mother a costume designer—Galchutt was immersed in a creative environment from an early age. He pursued formal education at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, graduating in 1981 with a degree in illustration. This foundation propelled him into a multifaceted career spanning children's publishing, toy design, and the giftware industry.

Galchutt's artistic journey began with watercolor, a medium well-suited to his early work in children's books and magazines. Over time, he transitioned to oil painting, drawn by its rich color palette and extended drying time, which allowed for greater depth and detail. His paintings are known for their elaborate patterns, ornate costumes, and a dreamlike quality that invites viewers into fantastical worlds. Beyond his personal creations, Galchutt has contributed illustrations to publications like *Highlights for Children* and authored the children's book *There Was Magic Inside*, published by Simon & Schuster in 1993.

In addition to his publishing work, Galchutt has made significant contributions to the giftware and art licensing industries. With its distinctive style, his artwork has been featured on various products, including puzzles, calendars, and home décor items, making his art accessible to a broad audience. Despite the commercial success, Galchutt remains dedicated to his artistic pursuits, often painting on wood panels prepared with traditional gesso to achieve a smooth surface for his detailed oil glazes. Orders outside the U.S. are not eligible for Free Shipping. Please choose your paid shipping method during checkout. We offer DHL, UPS, and USPS Priority Mail for international shipments.

Customs and Import Duties: If your puzzles are being delivered outside the USA, your order may be subject to import fees. These are stipulated by each individual country and are not collected or remitted by Nautilus Puzzles. Unfortunately, as we cannot advise you on the amount of these fees, we recommend contacting your country’s customs office or tax agent for the respective rates.

Returns - Peace of Mind Guaranteed: If you are less than delighted with your new puzzle, you can return it to us within 30 days of receiving your order for a full refund or store credit. We ask that it be unused and in its original condition and packaging (shrink-wrap not removed).

If you contact us in advance, we can email you a prepaid shipping label that you can print and affix to your return. To request this label, simply provide your order number and reason for return to our customer service team at help@nautiluspuzzles.com. Shipping costs will be deducted from your refund/credit, but they are charged at our volume discount shipping rates rather than the standard retail rate.

Please note we can only accept custom puzzles for return or refund if there are quality issues, as these items have been produced specifically for you.
