Moose are the gentle giants of the deer family, recognized by their size, long legs, and the broad antlers males wear. They thrive in northern forests and wetlands, wading through ponds for aquatic plants. Despite their lumbering look, moose are graceful swimmers and can dive for over half a minute to reach vegetation. Their solitary nature adds to their mystique, although in autumn, males become more vocal and combative during the rutting season.

In Alaska, the moose is an integral part of the landscape and culture. Alaskan bulls are the largest in the world, standing almost seven feet tall at the shoulder and weighing up to 1,600 pounds. Their size stands out whether they are on highways, in neighborhoods, or crossing rivers. People respect moose for their impressive presence and for the meat they provide to communities that rely on local resources.

Meeting an Alaskan moose can be exciting and unexpected. Calves are born in late spring, and mothers protect them strongly, while bulls become aggressive in the fall as they compete for mates. Watching a moose browse willows in the snow or walk across a frosty meadow gives a sense of Alaska's wild, natural beauty. Moose show both the strength and quiet beauty that represent the spirit of the state, and we think this stargazing guy makes a compelling and entertaining round puzzle.

Dolan Geiman

A nationally recognized mixed media artist, Dolan Geiman is celebrated for his unique and intricate collage works crafted from salvaged materials. His formative years in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, steeped in outdoor adventures and a deep connection to nature, continue to influence his contemporary Western creations. These include large-scale paper collages, metal wall sculptures, paintings, screenprints, and three-dimensional sculptures, all paying homage to Mother Nature and the rugged American landscape.

Geiman's artistic journey began in childhood, collecting found objects from abandoned farmsteads, sparking a lifelong fascination with vintage papers, reclaimed wood, and salvaged metal. These materials, rich with history and texture, are meticulously curated and combined using painting, screenprinting, and sculpture techniques. The result is a body of visually captivating and narratively rich work, reflecting Geiman's love for folktales, found objects, and the freedom to explore the expansive public lands of the West.

Geiman operates his studio in Denver, Colorado, with his wife and business partner, Ali Marie. Together, they travel across the United States, participating in art fairs and sourcing materials that continue to inspire Geiman's work. His art has garnered acclaim for its sustainability and ability to transform the discarded and ordinary into extraordinary pieces that resonate with nature, nostalgia, and storytelling themes.
