Without seeing the Las Vegas Strip, everyone has an idea of what it looks like. As a result, it has become an iconic landmark both in America and worldwide. Synonymous with the USA and connected in tourists' minds everywhere.

Elaborate resorts and casinos. Thousands of bright, neon lights. Crowds of pedestrians. Shows you won't find anywhere else in the world. The Strip is constantly being built, rebuilt, updated, and enhanced.

Las Vegas was born in 1905 when the Union Pacific Railroad began passing through the desert oasis. The city got its name from the availability of spring-fed water, "The Meadows" in Spanish.

It was incorporated as a city in 1911. Still, it wasn't until the 1930s, when thousands of workers flooded to the area to work on the Hoover Dam, that it really took off.

In 1931 Clark County, Nevada issued a three-month gaming license to a downtown Vegas night club and "The Strip" was born on a dusty three-mile strip south of downtown.
