From extravagant costumes and spooky yard displays to candy corn mania, there's no denying that Halloween is a big deal in the United States.

But now other countries are getting in on the act.

Some are adopting the whole holiday - costumes, yard and door decorations, parties, and trick or treating, while others have added it to already active celebrations.

In the UK, children already celebrate Guy Fawkes Day on November 5th, so while the kids are looking for candy, they will also bring their stuffed guy and ask for "Pennies for the Guy."

In Ireland, they have adopted many of the American traditions. Pumpkins are carved as decorations, parents dress up in costumes and have parties, and kids head out around the village, but they add an Irish twist. Many people practice the tradition of welcoming their own recent dead back into the home. They leave empty seats around the fireside to honor their loved ones, the prime spot in the house.

Australians like to trick-or-treat but also like to hold parties, ghost tours, ghost hunts and walks at venues that are thought to be haunted.

Halloween is a new holiday in Japan, and the country is embracing the Western tradition and adding its influence. Because there are other holidays in Japan for celebrating the deceased, trick or treating isn't as popular. Instead, Halloween in Japan is all about the costumes and mainly for adults. People don costumes and head to parties and clubs.

Young Russians are also getting on the act, and pop-up stores selling Halloween decorations and costumes are doing good business. Adults head to clubs in big cities like Moscow, while kids take to the streets for candy.

Of course, no one gets into the Halloween spirit quite like the US, so we couldn't let it pass without memorializing it in puzzle form.
