Almond Blossoms is from a group of several paintings done by Vincent Van Gogh of blossoming almond trees, while he was living in Arles and Saint-Remy in the South of France, from 1888 to 1890.

Van Gogh loved to paint flowering trees. He felt they signified awakening and hope. Like many of his works, the almond blossom paintings show the influence of Impressionism and Japanese Woodblocks.

Vincent Willem van Gogh born in 1853 was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, most of which date from the last two years of his life.  Many of his works of art have translated into wooden puzzles for adults.


Van Gogh was commercially unsuccessful during his life and tragically died at the too young age of 37 without ever knowing the recognition his art would receive or that he is now viewed as one of the most influential artists having helped lay the foundations of modern art.


Almond Blossoms is a group of several paintings painted by Van Gogh in 1888 and 1890.  This particular image was painted as a gift for Van Gogh's nephew.  This  image also makes a nice mini wooden jigsaw puzzle.
