Van Gogh created numerous flower paintings in his life. He always had a special appreciation and love for them, whether they be in nature or in a vase, he seemed to always be painting them.

Sunflowers were his favorite to paint, he liked how they were not elegant and classy, and that they were more rustic and sturdy plants. He went on to paint 11 still lifes of sunflowers. In this mini wooden jigsaw puzzle, he has painted a vase full of beautiful flowers, but surprisingly not any sunflowers.

This painting meant a lot to Van Gogh as he used a lot of bright colors, which were different than his usual grey and soft-hued paints. The bright blue background adds that contrast to the vibrant red, purple, and yellow flowers, making a beautiful mini wooden jigsaw puzzle.

The perfect gift or stocking-stuffer for any jigsaw puzzler, this traditional mini wooden jigsaw puzzle can be done time and again. Our mini wooden jigsaw puzzle artists have included many shaped whimsy puzzle pieces that match the theme of the painting, and we have integrated them in ways that will delight and surprise you as you put the mini wooden jigsaw puzzle together.

    Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose work had a profound influence on modern art despite his short and turbulent life. Born in 1853 in the Netherlands, Van Gogh showed an early interest in art, though his path to becoming a painter was far from direct. He worked as an art dealer, teacher, and missionary before dedicating himself fully to painting in his late twenties. Largely self-taught, Van Gogh drew inspiration from nature, rural life, and the people around him, using bold colors and expressive brushwork to convey emotion and movement.

During his brief but intensely productive career, Van Gogh created more than 2,000 artworks, including about 860 oil paintings. His most famous works—such as Starry NightSunflowers, and The Bedroom—are celebrated for their vibrant color, dynamic forms, and psychological depth. While he battled mental illness for much of his life and received little recognition during his lifetime, Van Gogh continued to paint with passion and urgency, often producing multiple works in a single week. His time in Arles, Saint-Rémy, and Auvers-sur-Oise marked the most prolific and expressive phases of his career.

Van Gogh died in 1890 at the age of 37 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, leaving behind a body of work that would only be fully appreciated after his death. Today, he is recognized as one of the most important and influential figures in Western art history. His legacy endures not only through his iconic paintings but also through the deeply personal letters he wrote, which offer insight into his thoughts, struggles, and unwavering commitment to his art.
