This colorful image of Ocean Park by the master puzzle artist Art Poulin celebrates boardwalks everywhere, and we thought it was a perfect fit for one of our very first 1000 Piece Puzzles.

Over the last five years, many of you have asked when we would do a puzzle with 1000 pieces, and when Art agreed to let us use this lovely image, we decided to give it a go.

1000 piece puzzles must engage the senses and keep you challenged until the last piece. With its excellent depiction of a bustling boardwalk, this image is perfect.

It is the perfect size to work with friends and family around the dining room table. There are enough exciting little vignettes to engage the kids, and we are sure it is one you will find yourself bringing out, again and again, to enjoy over the summer months for years to come.

Boardwalks are a truly American Playground. They are a nostalgic representation of all those lazy, crazy days we all enjoyed as kids: the smell of popcorn, the usually forbidden treats like ice cream, candy floss, funnel cakes, hot dogs, and all the bells and whistles to delight the senses.

And, of course, the rides. You ran from one to the other and stood in line with anticipation until you could climb aboard the thriller beast and scare yourself until you nearly puked.

Fond memories!

Anyway, this puzzle is here to enjoy when you don't feel like facing the amusement park yourself but still want all the fun of the fair.

We hope you enjoy our foray into the 1000 Piece Puzzles world.

Art Poulin

Art Poulin, a celebrated American painter, is best known for his nostalgic portrayals of rural America. Hailing from Waterville, Maine, he developed a profound admiration for the simplicity and allure of small-town life, a theme that would define his artistic journey. Poulin's career took a unique turn when he transitioned from a 27-year tenure as a tenor in the U.S. Army to a full-time artist. This shift allowed him to infuse his paintings with the experiences and observations from his military service, capturing the essence of American life with a rare authenticity and warmth.

Poulin's artistry is distinguished by his meticulous attention to architectural detail and vibrant, inviting landscapes. His canvases often depict idyllic scenes of countryside homes, barns, and mills, a testament to his deep reverence for America's architectural heritage. This unique focus results in gentle countryside scenes that embrace an allegiance to architectural accuracy, a quality often overlooked in typical folk art. Poulin's ability to blend artistic creativity with precise architectural representation sets his work apart, making it highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Art Poulin's legacy is a testament to the enduring power of art. His extensive body of work, including paintings featured on puzzles, calendars, and various forms of licensed merchandise, continues to resonate. Poulin's art has been widely distributed and cherished, bringing the warmth and charm of rural America into countless homes. Although Poulin passed away in 2018, his vision inspires new generations of artists and admirers who find solace and beauty in his depictions of a simpler, more peaceful time.
