A relaxed outdoor space provides a charming escape from the everyday rush. It offers a chance to slow down and enjoy life's simple pleasures.

Dining alfresco can be simple or elaborate; an outdoor dining area can offer an intimate dinner for two, a large celebratory gathering, or anything in between.

Enjoying meals in open-air environments is nothing new—dining under a warm night sky or enjoying coffee and breakfast by sunrise has been experienced by generations and in nearly every corner of the world.

Alfresco dining has been savored in Italy for centuries, especially when the weather warms up. Airy outdoor seating with an Aperol spritz is perfect for an Italian summer, providing a relaxed and convivial atmosphere for friends and family to gather.

The English enjoy drinking their afternoon tea in the fresh air, along with snacks such as scones, cakes, and finger sandwiches.

Americans enjoy a relaxed outdoor atmosphere on a deck with a view, with local beverages like craft beer or a tempting wine, surrounded by many plants in pots.

Alfresco dining also offers health benefits and provides a relaxing atmosphere. Eating breakfast or lunch outdoors can help combat lingering fatigue, while an evening meal outdoors can help ease your body and mind into a state of relaxation. The therapeutic benefits of reduced stress and enhanced well-being that come from dining in a natural environment are undeniable, making alfresco dining a healthy and enjoyable choice.

And, after dinner, as the evening starts to cool, you can set up this colorful wooden jigsaw puzzle on the table to enjoy, and keep that relaxed state going until bedtime.

David Lloyd Glover

David Lloyd Glover, a Canadian-born artist, is renowned for his vibrant post-impressionist landscapes and iconic pop culture portraits. Born in 1949 in Victoria, British Columbia, Glover's early aptitude for art was evident. He studied at the Public Art Gallery of Victoria and later attended the Vancouver School of Fine Arts, where he honed his skills. His professional career began as an illustrator for the Victoria Times, where he quickly advanced to become the youngest political cartoonist in Canada. His early experiences honed his discipline and creativity and showcased his natural talent and dedication, which he later applied to his fine art endeavors.

In 1986, Glover significantly transitioned back to fine art, focusing on translucent watercolor techniques inspired by classic British methods. His work gained recognition in central Vancouver and Los Angeles galleries, and his talent was soon acknowledged internationally. Notably, he was commissioned to create a series of historical paintings for the Royal British Columbia Museum's centenary, with 27 of his originals now in the museum's permanent collection. From 1994 to 2006, Glover's original art was exclusively represented by the most extensive Tokyo art gallery, making him one of Japan's most widely collected fine artists during that period.

Beyond his gallery exhibitions, Glover's art has been licensed by over twenty-eight major retailers, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, and Walmart. He has also authored six instructional art books for Walter Foster Publishing, sharing his techniques with aspiring artists. Currently residing in Beverly Hills, California, Glover continues to create and exhibit his work, which remains celebrated for its luminous color and emotive landscapes.
