Vincent Van Gogh painted The Mulberry Tree in October 1889 less than a year before he would die when he was staying at the Saint Paul Asylum.

Van Gogh continued to paint during his stay at the asylum.  He painted all aspects of his life while there:  the doctors, the hallways, the flowers in the gardens, the wheat fields, and the trees.  Many of his works of art have translated into wooden jigsaw puzzles for adults.
