This vibrant image is brought to us by the talented UK/South African Naive artist Derold Page.

When we think of Naive Art (also called Folk Art) we tend to think primarily of landscapes. We also tend to think only of American Folk Art. But in fact nearly every country in the world has its own folk art, celebrating day to day experiences, and the culture of rural life.

Folk Art is as popular in European countries as it is in North America but it typically doesn't have the the same look or themes that we have come to know over here. It is often referred to as Naive Art rather than Folk Art, but both art forms tend to be works by mostly self-taught artists.

Derold was born in South Africa and didn't taking up painting until his mid-twenties. Before he pursued art full time, he had successful careers in Interior Design and Fashion and you can really see how those earlier specialities influence his artwork, especially in his composition and use of color, which can be seen in this flower wooden jigsaw puzzle.

He emigrated to the UK in 1976 so that he could focus on art full-time, and he now lives in a charming, little 16th century thatched cottage in Somerset.

The perfect gift for flower wooden jigsaw puzzlers, gardeners, and flower-lovers, this traditional adult flower wooden jigsaw puzzle can be done time and again. Our flower wooden jigsaw puzzle artists have included many flower-shaped whimsy pieces that match the subject of the painting, and we have integrated them in ways that will delight and surprise you as you put the flower wooden jigsaw puzzle together.

Derold Page

Derold Page, a contemporary American artist, delves into the profound themes of memory, abstraction, and personal and cultural history layering. His work, characterized by its expressive use of color and texture, often blurs the line between figuration and abstraction. Page's compositions are not just visual but emotional landscapes, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a space where form, gesture, and suggestion resonate more deeply than literal representation.

Page's upbringing in the American South has deeply influenced his work, shaping a complex relationship with place, history, and identity. His art is a unique blend of the visual language of abstract expressionism and the oral storytelling traditions. Each piece is a reflection of his memories, built up through layers—paint, marks, and often mixed media—that reflect the process of remembering and reinterpreting.

Page's work has left a significant mark on the art world. His paintings, noted for their raw energy and quiet introspection, often between chaos and control, have been exhibited widely in galleries and museums across the United States. His evolving work continues to challenge perception, hold memory, and speak across boundaries, further solidifying his place in art.
