This gorgeous image of crazy, colorful, spiraling, Ukrainian Easter Eggs caught our eye and we couldn't resist making it into an Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle.

Rather than filling this Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle full of whimsies in the shape of eggs (BORING!), our designer has chosen to fill it full of frolicking Easter Bunnies, hippety-hopping their way towards Easter.

But where did the Easter Bunny come from anyway? And why do we associate rabbits with Easter?

In the USA, our Easter Sunday celebrations typically revolve around the Easter Bunny. Like Santa Claus and Christmas, the bunny has no obvious connections to the Christian holy day. So why then has it become such a prevalent symbol in our modern day celebrations?

The earliest evidence of a modern Easter Bunny dates back to the 1600s, when it is first mentioned in Germany. This rabbit, called "Oschter Haws" or Easter Hare, was believed to leave a nest of colorful eggs for children who were good. Basically, the Santa Claus of Easter.

The legendary egg-leaving rabbit was brought to America by German immigrants in the 1700s. The tradition spread throughout the USA where the hare became a bunny and his gifts eventually became chocolates and candies and the nests were replaced by baskets.

Eggs are a popular Easter image that have come to represent resurrection and we decorate them to celebrate the fact that the lenten fast is finished.

Whether it was pagan or Christian associations with the rabbit that ultimately influenced the Germans, we may never know, but we are celebrating both of them in this colorful Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle.

The perfect gift or for any Easter wooden jigsaw puzzler or Easter lover, this traditional Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle can be done time and again. Our Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle artists have included many Easter Bunny and Spring-inspired shaped whimsy Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle pieces that match the theme of the image, and we have integrated them in ways that will delight and surprise you as you put the Easter wooden jigsaw puzzle together.
