Nyhavn (New Harbor in English), is the main tourist destination in Copenhagen apart from the Little Mermaid and Tivoli Gardens. It is famous for its colorful 17th and 18th Century townhouses, lined up in rows along the harbor front, and it is very unusual to see it like this, free from the hordes of people who descend upon it each summer.

On a perfect sunny day, like the one pictured in this wooden jigsaw puzzle here, Nhavn typically sees as many as 20,000 visitors. They can be found strolling along the street, relaxing at the harbor front cafes and restaurants, and enjoying the many historical wooden ships docked in the harbor while sitting at the “longest outdoor bar in Scandinavia”. Denmark is, after all, also justifiably famous for its beer.

Constructed by King Christian V in the 1600s Nyhavn was notorious for drunkenness, sailors, and “houses of leisure” for many years until it finally gave up its seedy ways. It was pedestrianized, and became the hub of tourism in Copenhagen, in the 1960s. Hans Christian Anderson is its most famous resident. He lived at several different houses along the street for over 25 years and there is a plaque dedicated to his memory at number 67. He also wrote many of his early fairytales here, the most famous being The Princess and the Pea.

Coming up to Christmas, the cobble-stoned street is home to one of the most popular Christmas Markets in Europe. The old houses and decorated shops are covered in twinkling fairy lights, and provide space to many friendly purveyors of yummy Danish pastries.

The perfect gift for wooden jigsaw puzzlers and architecture enthusiasts, this traditional adult wooden jigsaw puzzle can be done time and again. Our wooden jigsaw puzzle artists have included many Danish-themed shaped whimsy wooden jigsaw puzzle pieces that match the subject of the image, and we have integrated them in ways that will delight and surprise you as you put the wooden jigsaw puzzle together. This wooden jigsaw puzzle is perfect for anyone.

This is actually a photograph taken REALLY early in the morning and adjusted for light exposure.
