One of the less well-known of Gustav Klimt's paintings, this positive wooden jigsaw puzzle image celebrates the lush greenery and abundance of color in the farm gardens near his house in Austria.

It was painted in 1907, in a period where Klimt was exploring his natural surroundings. While Klimt was a master in the style of realism and mosaic art, towards the end of his career, he was enthralled by nature and his environment, rather than taking commissions to paint portraits of others.

A quiet soul, who liked a secluded life, Klimt was a homebody and did not like to travel outside of Austria. When compelled to do so he was overcome by homesickness and would become increasingly happier as he got closer to home again. His friends often reported that he would sing little songs to himself with stanzas like "The wind is blowing briskly toward my homeland."

This painting shows that effervescent joy. The thrill of coming back to your home and finding that nothing has changed but the explosion of color in the garden just waiting to be painted. In this later period of his career, Klimt was heavily influenced by the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, particularly Vincent Van Gogh, who tended to give the foreground of a painting more prominence. The Sunflowers catch your eye immediately,  and this painting is often called by different names, one of which is "Farm Garden with Sunflowers".

Klimt passed away in 1918, one of the casualties of the last world pandemic the Spanish Flu. Although never fully celebrated while he was alive, after his death the world looked back and realized his genius. We're celebrating his work through this wooden jigsaw puzzle.

The perfect gift for wooden jigsaw puzzlers, fine art enthusiasts, fans of Gustav Klimt and Art Nouveau, this traditional adult wooden jigsaw puzzle can be done time and again.
